About Hinckley
There has been a settlement at Hinckley for a very long time. Hinckley Castle, although only ruins remain today, was once a Norman motte-and-bailey fortification, dating back to the 11th century.
Hinckley has been associated with historical battles and conflicts, such as the Battle of Bosworth in 1485, which took place nearby. This battle ended the Wars of the Roses and led to the rise of the Tudor dynasty.
During the Industrial Revolution, it became an important center for stocking and hosiery manufacturing, contributing significantly to the local economy.
In more recent years, the globally renowned motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph, built it's headquarters in Hinckley. It has been producing iconic motorcycles there since the 1980s, contributing to the town's reputation in modern engineering.
